Health & Safety Policy
General Statement of Policy on Health and Safety
Barco attaches the greatest importance to the safety of employees and sub-contractors and will pursue policies designed to ensure that, as far as is reasonably practicable, will provide a safe and healthy working environment and safe methods of working.
Our policy cannot operate without the full consultation and co-operation of all employees. A high priority is placed on hazards prevention by management and staff working together to identify those situations which could lead to personal injury and could put colleagues at risk or other persons by rectifying these situations before accidents occur. Employees at Barco are expected to read our policy and will be expected to produce a signature as proof of understanding.
The company will ensure the collection of up to date information on the toxicity and potential hazards of all substances used by the organisation. This information will be available to those with a legitimate need for that information.
The company will limit exposure to and, where necessary monitor the use of substances hazardous to health as an on going priority. Particular care will be taken with the introduction of new substances and the risks will be assessed as required.
The promotion of safety is the responsibility of the employer and the employees. On the one hand the employer's responsibility includes the promotion of safety in the total working environment it provides; for safe working methods, safety training, information and adequate supervision; and compliance with appropriate legislation. On the other hand the employee's responsibility includes a constant awareness for the safety of himself and other persons in the working environment; a requirement to contribute to ideas and methods of promoting a safe environment and systems of working; and to participate in safety training.
Barco will provide means of investigating and resolving safety problems throughout our premise.
Our policy statement will pay particular attention to:-
- The provision and maintenance of plant and systems of work that are safe and without risks to health.
- Arrangements for ensuring the safe use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substance which are inherently or potentially dangerous.
- The provision of comprehensive information, instruction, training and supervision with the object of ensuring, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety at work of every employee and trainee
